Attrice 

 

Nathalie Mentha è nata a Ginevra (Svizzera). Dopo gli studi partecipa alla Scuola Teatro del clown svizzero Dimitri a Verscio (TI).

Nel 1978 si diploma alla Scuola Superiore di Arte Drammatica del Conservatorio di Ginevra.

Nel 1979 incontra il Teatro Potlach, e comincia la sua formazione interculturale con pedagoghi di fama internazionale come Iben Nagel Rassmussen (Danimarca-attrice dell’Odin Teatret), Isso Miura (Giappone-danzatore butoh) Ingemar Lindt (Svezia-discepolo del mimo Etienne Decroux), Danilo Terenzi (musicista) e Peppe Rio (Spagna-danzatore di flamenco).

Da allora vive in Italia e lavora in modo stabile come attrice nelle produzioni del  Teatro Potlach.

 

Svolge da 33 anni un’intensa attività pedagogica sia in Italia che all’estero:

-Nel 2000 crea il progetto triennale pedagogico "Marco Polo" sul tema della conoscenza reciproca  delle culture attraverso l’incontro con le tecniche teatrali del clown, dell’acrobatica e della voce e lo realizza per le classi d’accoglienza  del Cycle d’Orientation  des Grandes Communes (Svizzera). Da allora mantiene un rapporto  di pedagogia teatrale interculturale con alcune strutture dell’Istruzione pubblica di Ginevra.

-Nel 2004 a Ginevra (Svizzera) l’attrice prende parte con lo stage "Combats de clowns " indirizzato alle classi di accoglienza alla festa dei 30 anni di attività del CO des GD Comunes.

-Dal 2007 al 2014 partecipa come pedagoga al Laboratorio Interculturale di Pratiche Teatrali, realizzato a Fara Sabina in collaborazione con ISTA diretta da  Eugenio Barba (Danimarca) e con 5 Università Italiane.

-Dal 2009 al 2012 conduce un corso di Arti Circensi con un gruppo di bambini dagli 8 ai 14 anni di Roma con il quale ha realizzato nel luglio 2012 uno spettacolo di strada.

 

Con lo spettacolo "Per Edith Piaf", divenuto poi "I primi 100 anni di Edith Piaf" nella nuova versione del 2015, viene invitata in tutto il mondo: dall’Ambasciata Svizzera del Messico durante la settimana della francophonie, per una tournée in diverse Istituzioni di lingua francese di Città del Messico; dall’Ambasciata Svizzera di Dehli durante la setimana della francophonie, per una tournée in India; in Giapone; torna in India a Pondichery et Auroville nel 1° Festival Tantidhatri, segue un tour a Calcutta e Ahmedabad; in Brasile a Recife al Festival de Grandes Espetaculos; in USA, a Bethleheme (Pennsylvania) e a San Antonio (Texas)

 

E’ autrice di alcuni degli  spettacoli del Teatro Potlach:  

-"Direttori d’orchestra" (1991), la prima versione dello spettacolo con Marcela Grassi e con la regia di Pino Di Buduo;

-"Per Edith Piaf" (2005) con la regia di Pino Di Buduo;

-"Viva la Vita" (2005) con la drammaturgia di Clelia Falletti e la regia di Pino Di Buduo;

-"Amar Amando" (2012) con la regia di Pino Di Buduo;

-"Perche cantiamo!" (2014) Regia di Pino Di Buduo con Nathalie Mentha e Daniela Regnoli

-"I Primi 100 anni di Edith Piaf" (2015) Regia di Pino Di Buduo

-"La Commedia di Arlecchino e Pulcinella a Venezia" (2015) Regia di Pino Di Buduo e Claudio De Maglio, Drammaturgia: Claudio De Maglio. Con Nathalie Mentha e Claudio De Maglio.

 

Riconoscimenti

Nel 1994 a Napoli Nathalie Mentha riceve il premio "Tassello d’argento" come migliore interprete non protagonista e per il valore dell'attività pedagogica e artistica svolta nel corso dell'anno 1993.   

Nel 2012 nell ‘ambito del “30° Fadjr International Theater Festival” di Tehran riceve il premio come migliore attrice per la sua interpretazione nello spettacolo “Ventimila Leghe sotto i mari” del Teatro Potlach.

Nathalie Mentha was born in Geneva (Switzerland). After compulsory education, she attends the Theatre School of the Swiss clown Dimitri in Verscio (TI).

In 1978 she graduates at the Higher School of Theatre Arts in the Conservatory of Geneva. In 1979 she meets Teatro Potlach, and she starts her education with well-known pedagogues such as Iben Nagel Rasmussen (Denmark – actress), Isso Miura (Japan – butoh dancer), Ingemar Lindh (Sweden – pupil and assistant of the mime Etienne Decroux), Danilo Terenzi (musician) and Peppe Rio (Spain – flamenco dancer). From 1979 she lives  in Italy and works permanently as an actress in Teatro Potlach’s productions.

 

Since 33 years she carries on an intense pedagogical activity in Italy as well as abroad:

 -In 2000 she creates the triennial pedagogical project “Marco Polo” on the theme of the meeting of cultures through the toolof the clown’s theatrical techniques, of acrobatics and voice. She holds these workshops for the classes for foreigners of the Cycle d’Orientation des Grandes Communes (Switzerland). Since then she keeps a working relationship as intercultural theatrical pedagogue with several public structures for education in Geneva.

-In 2004 in Geneva (Switzerland) she takes part to the celebration for the 30 years of activity of CO des GD Comunes, with the workshop “Combats de clowns”, aimed at the classes for foreigners.

-Between 2007 and 2015 she participates as pedagogue to the Intercultural Workshop of Theatre Practices, held in Fara Sabina with the collaboration of ISTA (International School of Theatre Anthropology, directed by Eugenio Barba, Denmark) and of 5 Italian universities.

-Between 2009 and 2012 she holds a course of Circus Arts with a group of children from Rome aged8-14, with whom she realized a street performance in July 2012. In 2010 she performs the show For Edith Piaf in Mexico, invited by the Swiss Embassy.

 

From 2010 to 2012 she’s been invited by the Swiss Embassy in collaboration with Alliance Française during “ the Week of Francophonie “ in Mexico City, Dehli , Pondichery, Ahmedabad, Calcutta, to present her performance "For Edith Piaf", a tribute to the great singer, in an Indian tournée, and the same in 2013, when she performs it in Tokyo, Japan.

In 2014 she is in Brasil in Recife invited by the Janeiro Festival de Grandes Espettaculo, and in 2015 in USA (Pennsylvania and Texas)

 

She is the author of some of TeatroPotlach’s performances, such as:

-"The Conductors" (1991), the first version with Marcela Grassi and directed by Pino Di Buduo;

-"For Edith Piaf" (2005), directed by Pino Di Buduo;

-"Up with Life" (2005), with the dramaturgy of Clelia Falletti and directed by Pino Di Buduo;

-"Amar Amando" (2012), directed by Pino Di Buduo.

-"Porche Cantamos" (2014) Directed By Pino Di Buduo With Nathalie Mentha and Daniela Regnoli

Acknowledgements

In 1994 Nathalie Mentha wins the prize “Tassello d’Argento” as the best non-protagonist actress and for the value of her pedagogical and artistic activity in the previous year 1993.

In 2012, within the context of the “30° Fadjr International Theatre Festival” in Teheran, she wins the prize as best actress for her performance in the production of Teatro Potlach Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea.
